How it works

Starting care is simpler than you think

Most families get in touch at a stressful moment. We keep things calm, clear and quick — and your care plan is reviewed at least every quarter as needs change.

  1. Step 1: Talk to us

Call or send us a message. A friendly member of our local team will listen, answer your questions and explain your options — no pressure.

  2. Step 2: Free home assessment

We visit you at home for a free, no-obligation assessment of needs, routines, interests and what matters most to you.

  3. Step 3: Meet your caregiver

We create your personal care plan, match you with the right caregiver and introduce you before care begins.

FAQs

Questions families often ask

Can’t find your answer? Our team is happy to help, day or night.

Do you provide HSE-funded home support?

Yes. Local Homecare is an HSE-approved home support provider. HSE Home Support is free for eligible people — mainly those aged 65 and over — with no means test. If you need extra hours on top of your HSE allocation, we can provide those privately. Read our guide to paying for care.

How much does home care cost?

Every care plan is tailored, so the cost depends on the type of care and how many hours you need. Request a free quote and we’ll give you a clear price with no obligation. For overnight, live-in or public holiday care, call 086 199 2266 or 085 117 6049 to talk through rates.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Our services are pay as you go and contract-free. You use Local Homecare only for as long as you’re 100% satisfied.

Does having home care mean losing independence?

No — quite the opposite. We believe independence means being in control of your own decisions. Many of our clients just need a little help to keep living safely, while others are recovering from a fall, surgery or illness. Whatever the situation, our goal is the best possible outcome with you in control of your care.

How can I trust a caregiver in my home?

Professional caregivers have chosen a career in compassionate care, just like nurses and doctors. Every Local Homecare caregiver passes our screening process — including Garda vetting, two reference checks, verified qualifications and a face-to-face interview — followed by induction and ongoing training.

Will we have a say in choosing our caregiver?

Yes. We work with each family to understand the skills and personality you’d like in a caregiver. Clients tell us a good personality match is the number one factor, so we really encourage your input. We then make a match based on our experience and your preferences.
